French Bulldog Photos Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create an album for my Frenchies?

The first thing you have to do is register a username. Just click the link to the gallery, then click the 'register' link. After you've done this, you'll get a welcome email confirming your registration.

When you return to the gallery for the first time, you'll be taken to the album that was automatically created for you. The album will be named 'My User Name', but you can easily change this.

When you enter your album for the first time, it will be empty. You'll see a link telling you to 'Add a Photo' - click it, and you'll be taken to the screen which shows you various ways of adding photos.

The easist ways to add items are as follows:

Step 1: Navigate to the album you wish to add items to and click the “add items” link on the sidebar.

Step 2: Click the “From Web Browser” tab if you are not already on that tab.

Step 3: You are now presented with five boxes for item uploads. Click the “Browse” button to open a dialog box that enables you to select a local file and insert it's path into the form. Alternatively you can type in the local path directly into the form.

Note: If you need more than the default five, click the “more” link on the bottom of the page to extend the number.

Step 4: If you want, you can enter a caption for the item added in Step 3.

Step 5: Click the “Add Items” button on the bottom of the page to upload the items selected.

Windows XP comes with a nice feature that allows you to publish content from your desktop directly to a web service. Follow the instructions below to enable this service on your Windows XP system.

Step 1: Install and activate the Publish XP module. Login to your Gallery 2 installation, and navigate to the Add Items page (e.g. under 'Options' within an existing gallery). Find the Windows XP tab, click it and download the configuration file available to the computer from which you want to upload pictures. Once downloaded, rename it to 'install_registry.reg'. If it asks you for confirmation about changing the file type, answer 'yes'. Right click on this file and you should see a menu appear. Select the Merge option (this should be at the top of the menu). It will ask you if you want to import these values into your registry. Click 'Ok'. It will tell you that the files were imported successfully. Click 'Ok' again.

Step 2: Open your Windows Explorer and browse to a folder containing supported images. Select the image(s) or a folder and there should be a link on the left that says 'Publish this file to the web...' Click this link and then follow the instructions to log into your Gallery, select an album and publish the image.

Uploading Photos with the Image Applet and Gallery Remote

Changing the Caption of Your Photo

By default, uploaded photos are given their file name. In other words, if the photo was named 'mvc009876.jpg' on your computer, this is what it will be named when you add it to the gallery. Since file names usually aren't very attractive, and rarely describe what's in the photo, you might prefer that photos are given no caption at all (also called a 'blank caption'), which you can change after you're done uploading.

Here's the default setting when you are uploading photos via web browser:

From the highlighted drop down menu, change this to 'blank caption:

Now that you've added this photo, you might want to add a caption and a description. To do so, select the photo you want to edit, then select 'edit photo' in the left hand menu:

Now you can change the caption, description, keywords, etc. Just do NOT change the filename, as this can cause issues.

I need more help! Can you upload my photos and create my albums for me?

No, I'm sorry, but we can't. First of all, your photos are on your computer, and second of all, we just don't have the time. It's actually pretty easy - hundreds of users just like you have created their own albums. You can do it, too!
